SARAO invites the submission of quotations for the following:

  1. Basic lifting techniques – 1 week
    • Identify rigging equipment
    • Inspect rigging equipment
    • Recall overhead crane hand signals
    • Demonstrate overhead crane hand signals
    • Step ladder inspections
    • Use of different equipment:
    • Chain block
    • Shackels (D & Bow)
    • Wire rope slings
    • Chain slings

    • Step ladder inspections
  2. Introduction to welding practice – 2 weeks
    • Safety
    • Basic oxy-acetylene welding and brazing
    • Basic shielded metal arc welding
    • Basic metal insert gas (MIG) welding
    • Basic tungsten insert gas (TIG) welding
  3. Introduction to Instrumentation – 1 week
    • Calibration of a transmitter
    • Calibration of the controller
    • Calibration of control valve
    • Feedback control loop
    • Temperature measurements
  4. Introduction to electronics – 4 weeks
    • Soldering electronic components
    • De-soldering electronic components
    • Identification of electronic components
    • Testing electronic components using a multi-meter
    • Construction of an electronic circuit on a bread board
    • Construction of an electronic circuit on a Vera board
    • Construction of an electronic circuit on a PC board
    • Testing a circuit using an oscilloscope
    • Fault finding on an electronic circuit
  5. Introduction to Electrical Practice – 4 weeks
    • Identification and use of tools in the electrical industry
    • Distribution from point of supply to point of control
    • Light circuits
    • Motor testing
    • Distribution board wiring
    • Draw and built a basic electrical circuit
    • Conductors
    • Motor and starter
    • Circuit interpretation and design
    • Measuring instruments
    • Transformer connections
    • Switch interpretation
    • PLC
    • VSD’s
  6. Introduction to Mechanical Practice – 2 weeks
    • Identification of different tools
    • Basic hand skills
    • Introduction to couplings and drives
    • Types of couplings and drives
    • Introduction to pneumatics
    • Understand theory related pneumatics
    • Draw and built a basic pneumatic circuit
    • Basic CNC programming (Lathe & Milling)
  7. Accommodation for the full duration of training
  8. Necessary PPE as required for course
