Purpose
The NRF through SARAO requests Professional Engineering Services for the completion of a dam safety evaluation in terms of the regulations published in Government notice R.139 of 24 February 2012.
Scope
Jaskloof Se Dam is a Category II dam located on Farm Jas kloof Number 76 which is situated in the Karoo Hoogland Municipality Division Fraserburg, Province of the Northern Cape.
The position of the centre of the dam is latitude 30º46′39″ and longitude 21º15′03″. The gross capacity of the Jaskloof dam is approximately 725 000m³. The dam has a maximum wall height of 6.2m, with the crest length of the wall being 108m. One farmhouse is located downstream of the dam.
Deliverables
In order to reduce the risk of an unforeseen cost, SARAO is looking to appoint a professional water engineer register with the Department of Water Affairs to visit the site to determine the underlying attributes and potential risks of the dam.
The professional appointed will need to provide a report on the findings made and recommendations going forward for deregistration of this dam.
