Appointment of Construction Services for the supply of Concrete Ready Mix and the Installation of the Concrete Floor at The Cofimvaba Science Centre – Eastern Cape

Summary:

SARAO wishes to appoint a qualified construction service provider for the supply of concrete ready mix and the installation of a concreate floor at the Cofimvaba Science Centre in the Eastern Cape.
The floor will be used as a permanent are where two exhibits will be placed on. The exhibits are Solar System Exhibit and a Thermoset plastic plaque of Radio dishes diagram.
The area of 10m2 requires a concrete floor to be laid for these two exhibitions.
The Concreate Specifications is:

  • Strength of the Concrete required is 20 MPa
  • Length of area is 4 metres
  • Width of the area is 2.5 metres
  • Thickness of foundation required is 100 mm

The specification of the Floor:
The concrete mix is to be poured and set as per required for the nature of the work set out.
To ensure durability and robustness a wire mesh must be included when the floor is being laid. Installation of Track system and concentric rails on the ground - for the planets to orbit around the Sun must be included in the floor. Provision for this must be made.
Bidders are requested to supply a visual diagram of how this will be achieved.
Note that this RFQ does not call for the design and manufacture of the two exhibition pieces noted above. It only requires Bidders to quote for the supply of Concrete and installation of the floor.
