Design, Supply, Configuration and Installation of a Next Generation Enterprise Firewall Solution, Including Hardware, Training, licensing and support for a period of Five years

Compulsory Briefing Session: A compulsory briefing session will be held for this tender on 1 September 2020 at 10.00AM. However, due to risks associated with the Covid-19 pandemic and National Lockdown, the briefing session will be held virtually via the Zoom application. Interested parties must register their intention to attend the briefing session with Ms. Anwuli Okecha (anwuli@ska.ac.za) by 16.00PM on 28 August 2020, which will ensure they are invited to attend, and sent the meeting link.
Bid Submission: Electronic submissions must be sent to tenders@ska.ac.za. Bids must be submitted in two separate password protected zip files, one with the compliance and technical response, and the second with the financial response. Folders must be titled with the bidder’s company name and folder title. Attachments are limited to 25 MB per email. Bidders are to send an email to tenders@ska.ac.za post submission with the password and to confirm that their bids have been received, and this will be confirmed by SARAO via email.
SARAO invites bids for the design, supply, configuration and installation of a Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) solution with Unified Threat Management, and licensing for its sites in Cape Town, Losberg, Johannesburg, Carnarvon, Klerefontein, and CHPC (Centre for High Performance Computing in Rosebank Cape Town - SARAO equipment is hosted here). This includes the hardware, training, licensing and support for a period of 5 years.
The NGFW solution will replace the existing SARAO Check Point firewalls which have reached their end of life and will no longer be supported.
The NGFW should be supplied with a compatible Security Analytics and Log Management component and Centralized Firewall Management component, as well as an Authentication component to integrate NGFW with the SARAO IdM (Identity Management System – this is an industry standard IdM and we are currently out on tender for its procurement and implementation). This integration should be demonstrated through a reference document, complete with example analytics, reports generated and central management & administration of the firewall appliances illustrated.
The NGFW will be setup in an Active/Passive HA (High Availability) mode in two sites, namely the SARAO Cape Town and Losberg sites, with 4 Non-HA (High Availability) smaller appliances in the remaining four sites (Johannesburg, Carnarvon, Klerefontein and CHPC). Should the active unit go down on the HA setup, the other will immediately become the active firewall. The units will control traffic to and from the internal network, other site offices and the internet. Our current ISP (Internet Service Provider) is the Tertiary Education Network (TENET) which provides a 10Gbps connection at each site.
