 SARAO invites you to a briefing session to discuss the needs, requirements and timelines for the project. 

SARAO needs the services of a service provider to manage the production, printing and packaging of a commemorative publication in the form of a photo book to celebrate 20 years since the start of the SKA program, and 5 years since the launch of its MeerKAT radio telescope. 

The photo book will consist of images and short descriptions depicting the 20-year SKA journey and the celebration of 5 years of MeerKAT. The images and information will be supplied by SARAO, in the highest quality available. Photo-retouching and editing will be required. Final artwork to be supplied to SARAO in PDF and web version. The timeline for the project to be completed (printed and packaged) is end of September 2023. 

• The final product will be image-heavy with minimal text, with consistency in look and feel throughout.
• The successful service provider will be required to work with NEF, RAW and JPEG formats.
• As part of your submission, you will be required to provide a layout with four (4) images provided by SARAO as a suggested design for the final product.
• Online links to or PDFs of three (3) examples of similar previous work should also be included in your submission.

Specifications for the book are as follows:

• Size: 305X305 mm
• Pages: 60 pages
• Printing: Printed full colour on both sides
• Cover: Printed in full colour with Gloss laminated on one side only
• Material text- 128gsm Gloss Cover – 150gsm Gloss
• End papers – 160gsm Eltoro white
• Binding Gold embossing, Case binding, Trimmed to size
• Amount to be printed: 1000 copies

Packaging: In a slim white SARAO logo branded box, book to be wrapped in black rice paper inside the box.
